QR codes, link shortener and analytics

You will make a branded QR code, shorten and track a link, and read what your page analytics actually measure.

QR codes

QR-Codes sits under Tools in the sidebar. Type or paste whatever the code should contain, and the preview redraws as you go. The dropdown in front of the field adds a prefix for you: URL, Email, Phone or SMS. Paste something that already starts with one and it is detected on its own.

  • Themed, Light and Dark set the colors. Themed uses your page's text color on your background color, the same pair the Scene Card and Lower Third overlays use for their QR tiles.
  • Dots, Eyes and Pupils shape the code's modules and its three corner markers.
  • Transparent background drops the backing color, which is what you want when the code goes over artwork.
  • Copy puts a PNG on your clipboard; PNG and SVG download the file. Use SVG for anything printed.

The Batch toggle swaps the field for a textarea: one entry per line, then Download ZIP gives you every code as a numbered PNG in one archive.

  1. Open Link-Shortener under Tools.
  2. Paste the destination URL and press Shorten.A bare domain works - https:// is added for you. The link must be http or https and 2048 characters or less.
  3. Click the short link in the list to copy it.Short links look like pulz.bio/l/ab12cd. The six-character code is generated for you and cannot be chosen.

Each row shows the destination, the date you made it and a total click count. The search field filters by short code or by any part of the destination, which is what saves you once you have a few dozen. The trash button asks first; hold Cmd or Ctrl while clicking it to skip the confirmation.

Analytics

Analytics under Business reports on your page. The period selector in the top bar covers the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, a year, or all time, and every card below follows it.

  • Views, Visitors, Clicks and Click Rate across the top. Click Rate is clicks divided by views.
  • Views Over Time. The bucket follows the period and is named in the card header: Hourly for 24 hours, Daily for 7 and 30 days, Weekly for 90 days, Monthly for a year and all time.
  • Countries on a map and as a list, plus Traffic Sources, Devices, Browsers and Operating Systems.
  • Most Clicked, which ranks the individual items on your page.

A one-line summary above the charts names your biggest source, device type and country once there is enough traffic to say anything.

Visitors are identified by a hash that is rebuilt from scratch every day and never stored as a cookie. That keeps the numbers usable without tracking anyone across sessions - and it means the same person visiting on two days counts as two visitors.

FAQ

Why is my visitor count higher than I expect?

The anonymous visitor hash rotates daily, so a returning viewer is counted again the next day. Compare periods against each other rather than treating visitors as unique people over time.

Do QR code scans show up in analytics?

Only as a normal page view, if the code points at your page. The code itself is a static image and reports nothing back.

No. Delete it and shorten the new URL, which produces a new code.
