Connecting Twitch, Kick, YouTube and Discord

By the end you know what each connection unlocks, how to add it, and why an overlay can sit at zero until you grant one more Twitch permission.

Every platform connection lives in one place: Connections, under Account at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar. The nav item carries an Active tag while Twitch is connected, and a red Disconn. tag if the connection has been revoked.

The panel is a stack of cards: Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Discord and X, then the Twitch permissions card, then Tips and donations. All of it is optional. A page, a panel and an overlay design all work with nothing connected, and overlays fall back to sample data.

Twitch

Twitch is the connection the rest of the product is built around. It brings across:

  • Your username, display name, bio, profile image and channel tags, each with its own sync switch you can turn off.
  • Live status, viewer count, stream title and category, on your page, your schedule page, the embeddable widget and the badge.
  • Your Twitch schedule and your top clips, which is what the Stream Schedule and Featured Clips blocks show.
  • The Schedule panel in the sidebar, which only appears once Twitch is connected.
  • Real data in the overlay widgets, as far as your permissions allow. See the next section, because that is where most confusion starts.

Connecting Twitch

  1. Open Connections in the sidebar.
  2. Press Connect Twitch on the Twitch card.If the card reads Reconnect Twitch, the stored token stopped working. Pressing it puts you back where you were.
  3. Approve the request on Twitch. The only thing asked for at this point is your email address. Nothing else is requested until you ask for it.
  4. Wait to land back on your dashboard.Your profile, schedule and clips are pulled in as part of the return trip. You land on My Page rather than Connections, so open Connections again if permissions are your next stop.

The opt-in Twitch permissions

This is the single most common reason a widget shows zero. pulz asks Twitch for the minimum when you connect, and for nothing else until you say so. A sub goal cannot read your subscriber count, and a follow alert cannot fire, until the matching permission is granted. The widget is not broken. It has not been allowed to read the number.

The permissions live on the Twitch permissions card near the bottom of Connections, under the platform cards and above Tips and donations. The card only appears once Twitch is connected. Anything already granted shows an On tag and its checkbox is locked.

Granting permissions

  1. Scroll to Twitch permissions in Connections.
  2. Tick every permission you want, in both groups.Tick them all in one pass. Each grant is a separate trip to Twitch, so batching saves you repeating it.
  3. Press the Grant button in the card header. It counts what you ticked, for example Grant 3 on Twitch.
  4. Approve on Twitch, then wait to land back on Connections.Everything you approved now shows an On tag.

Reading your channel

  • Followers - Follow alerts, the latest-follower label and follower goals.
  • Subscribers - Sub and gift alerts, and a sub goal that shows a real number.
  • Bits - Cheer alerts and bit goals.
  • Ad schedule - The ad break countdown, and the heads-up before one starts.
  • Channel points - Alerts and feed rows when someone redeems a reward.
  • Hype trains - The hype train widget: level, progress and top contributors.
  • Polls - Show your Twitch polls on stream. Twitch polls need Affiliate; a pulz poll does not.
  • Predictions - Show your Twitch predictions on stream, with live odds.

Acting on your channel

These let pulz do things as you. Anything posted appears under your own name and counts against your own rate limits. Each one also has its own switch in the feature that uses it, so granting the permission never makes pulz post anything by itself.

  • Send shoutouts - Fire Twitch's own shoutout when someone raids you.
  • Post announcements - Put a highlighted banner in your chat when an ad break starts.
  • Create clips - Clip the last 30 seconds from a Stream Deck key, and put it on your page.
  • Title, category and markers - Edit your title and category from Stream Control, and drop VOD markers.
  • Post in your chat - Lets pulz post as you. Messages appear under your own name.

Which widget needs which permission

  • Goal Bar, Alerts, Labels, Event Feed and Subathon - Followers, Subscribers and Bits.
  • Ad Break - Ad schedule.
  • Hype Train - Hype trains.
  • Poll - Polls. Prediction - Predictions.

Kick

Connecting Kick adds a Kick Link tile to the Add New menu on My Page, feeds your Kick follower count into the media kit, lets the Multistream Chat widget merge Kick messages into the same column as Twitch, and puts a Kick live badge on your page while you are live on Kick and not on Twitch. A Twitch stream always wins the badge.

Connecting Kick

  1. Press Connect Kick on the Kick card in Connections.
  2. Approve the request on Kick.pulz asks to read your user and your channel. It cannot post to your channel or your chat.
  3. Open the dashboard once after connecting, before you go live. The chatroom the overlay listens on can only be looked up from a real browser, so it is resolved on a dashboard visit. If Kick messages never appear in the multistream chat, this is the first thing to try.

YouTube

YouTube is not a sign-in. You give pulz your channel handle and it reads public channel data. It cannot post, edit or delete anything on your channel.

Connecting it unlocks the Newest Video, Recent Videos and Recent Shorts blocks on My Page, your subscriber and view counts on the media kit, and YouTube chat inside the Multistream Chat widget while you are live on YouTube.

Connecting YouTube

  1. Type your channel handle into the field on the YouTube card. The placeholder is @yourchannel or channel URL. If a full URL fails, try the bare handle, for example @channelname.
  2. Press Connect YouTube.
  3. Use Sync Videos whenever you want a fresh pull.Manual syncing is limited to once a minute.

Discord

Discord is two separate things in pulz, in two separate panels. Connecting a server is not the same as announcing your stream in it, and neither one requires the other.

The server connection

On the Discord card in Connections, paste a permanent invite link such as https://discord.gg/yourserver and press Connect Discord. This reads your server name, icon and member count for your page and your media kit. Nothing is posted to your server by this.

Go-live announcements

These live in the Discord & Embeds panel, under Stream. They run on a webhook you create yourself, so pulz never needs to be a member of your server.

Setting up the go-live post

  1. In Discord, open Server Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks.
  2. Create a webhook on the channel you want the announcement in, and copy its URL.
  3. In pulz, open Discord & Embeds and paste it into the Webhook URL field on the Discord Go-Live Announcements card.
  4. Write your announcement message, or leave it blank.Blank posts **{name}** is live on Twitch! {url}. The chips under the field insert {name}, {url}, {title} and {game}.
  5. Add a mention if you want one.A mention only pings if it sits inside the message, which is why the @everyone and @here chips insert into the text. For a role, paste its 17 to 20 digit role ID into the Role ID field and press Add role.
  6. Press Save Webhook.

When the stream ends, the same message is edited into a VOD card. The toggle in the card header pauses announcements without deleting your setup.

The synced schedule message

The Discord Synced Schedule card keeps one message showing your next streams, each row with its game box art, and re-edits it whenever your schedule changes. It needs its own webhook, in a different channel from the go-live one. If you move it to another channel later, press Re-Send Message to post it fresh.

The activity log

The Discord Activity Log card is a third webhook that posts a line per event. You choose which ones are worth it: Follows, Subs, Gift subs, Cheers, Raids and Hype trains. Follows are off by default, because a channel that pings on every follow gets muted.

Tips and donations

The last two cards in Connections are Streamlabs and StreamElements. They take a token so your overlay can open the provider's own socket. Tips go straight from the provider to your browser source, which means pulz never sees them, and it also means they only count while a source is open.

FAQ

My sub goal says zero and I definitely have subs.

The Subscribers permission is not granted. Open Connections, tick Subscribers on the Twitch permissions card, press the Grant button and approve on Twitch. Select the widget in the editor first if you want it to name the exact permission it is missing.

Why does Twitch ask for permissions I already approved?

A Twitch token only carries the permissions from its latest approval. Requesting only the new one would drop everything else, so pulz re-requests the full set every time. Approving the whole list is correct.

Do I need a bot account for the chat features?

No. Shoutouts, announcements and chat messages all run on your own Twitch token. The trade-off is that anything posted appears under your own name, which is why each of them needs both the permission and its own switch.

Do I lose my setup if I disconnect a platform?

Your scenes, panels and page blocks are yours and stay put. Blocks fed by that platform stop having data to show, and for Twitch the Schedule panel disappears from the sidebar until you reconnect.

Does connecting Discord let pulz read my server?

No. The connection is a public invite link, which is how the server name, icon and member count are read. Everything pulz posts to Discord goes through webhooks you create, and can delete, in your own server settings.

Can I connect TikTok, Instagram or X?

TikTok and Instagram have cards in Connections and show a Connect button when the integration is switched on for the deployment you are using. Instagram needs a professional account, Business or Creator. The X card records your handle for the media kit but is not a live integration yet.
